Most people don’t ask you to consider how the things you call ‘wrong’ can actually be working for you on some level. No, our usual approach is to identify what’s wrong and then fix it.
We are always able to give up behaviors that no longer serve us. So if the behavior persists (think struggle), then there is a payoff at work. And it is working perfectly. Always.
But when it comes to knowing God's will, it seems there are times He has specific instructions for us, and there are times He has opened lots of space for us to create and choose. Maybe all that silence we struggle with is God giving us room to decide.
I assumed the light was red and I could not move until I had some additional sign from God that it had turned green; an obvious, declarative GREEN! And if I did get some such sign, I’d second guess my perception with, “Is it REALLY green?”
But if I choose to live from the context of cause—choosing to be the cause in my life—then if I don’t like the bed I’ve made, guess what? I can make it again and again and again!
"I can't afford that!" is really resignation disguised as responsibility. It is resignation to the situation of not having enough money. And as long as I am resigned then I am not responsible.
